Just days from opening, Santa’s Shop in downtown Eagle Point is still in need of new or nearly new items and for volunteers to man the store and to help put all the merchandise in place.

Santa’s Shop offers those who may not otherwise have much of a Christmas an opportunity to gift shop, making a donation for the items if they can. If funds are not available, no questions are asked, and shoppers will be able to take the items. Free gift wrapping is also available.

The program is operated on the honor system, asking that shoppers be in need and limit the gifts by using good judgement, remembering there will be many others needing to shop. Santa’s Shop began last year and served an estimated 500 families.

The shop is being set up this week. Those who have some time to help place merchandise are asked yo call Kathy at the Independent, 541-826-7700 or Nancy at 541-826-2496. Those who have three hours available from Dec. 10-21, from 10-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday are asked to call the above numbers as well.

Items may be dropped off at the Upper Rogue Independent located in  Ray’s Shopping Center, corner Linn Rd. and Hwy. 62, in Eagle Point, between 9 and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Cash donations are definitely welcome. A couple of Santa’s elves use that money to buy items that are in short supply. And to replenish merchandise.

Santa’s Shop is located in the Judge Stewart House, the two story structure across from Chase Bank in downtown Eagle Point.
